Westwing x MEINEWAND - New colour series: 1. dark colour tones
Dark colours are still something special in interior design. As part of a collaboration with Westwing, Sebastian and Kai from MEINEWAND have put together inspiring shades of dark blue, dark grey and dark green from our English manufacturers for rooms from Europe's largest interior supplier.
As part of our cooperation with Westwing, we are devoting a multi-part series to wall and room design with colours. Part 1 is all about dark wall colours.
Dark colours for walls, wood panelling or ceilings have a number of properties that make them an interesting design element. Our British paint manufacturers such as Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Paint & Paper Library offer a wide range of dark colours. This is where we went when Westwing asked us for colour recommendations for their rooms as part of a collaboration. Westwing's perfectly coordinated furniture and accessories offer plenty of opportunities to combine them with bold colours.
Dark colours on the wall can make rooms look elegant and homely at the same time. They also set the scene for special furniture, shelves or works of art. As dark colours have a neutral effect overall, they can be combined well with different furnishing styles.
1. Black: add depth and luxury
The wall colour black goes well in larger rooms with natural light sources, but not only there. For a cosy look, black with wood can also be combined with black or white furniture. Black metal or dark wood create a slightly cooler atmosphere and can be used for an industrial look.

The colour Kohl 124 from Paint & Paper Library is a neutral black with an umber hue reminiscent of warm charcoal tones (top photo). Railings 31 from Farrow & Ball has a lighter effect and a hint of blue. It emphasises the seating furniture and side table from Westwing and gives the wall a sophisticated character (bottom photo).
Further recommendations for black wall colours by Kai and Sebastian from MEINEWAND:
The complex black shade Vine Black from Zoffany works with violet nuances and is therefore particularly versatile (left colour field). An earthy black tone such as Liquorice CB10 from Farrow & Ball sits richly on the walls and brings cosiness into the room (right colour field).
2. Dark grey and anthracite
Although dark grey and black are closely related, they have different effects in a room. Grey has a slightly cooler effect than black. Dark grey wall paint can therefore be combined with light and friendly textiles to bring warmth into the room. Light wood with grey also looks very homely, as the rooms shown here from Westwing demonstrate.

The versatile grey shade Mole's Breath 276 from Farrow & Ball is reminiscent of a mole's fur thanks to its warm brown hue (top photo). The dark grey Worsted 284 from Farrow & Ball provides elegance (bottom photo).

3. Dark blue: calmness and warmth
A dark blue colour on the wall creates a modern look and can be perfectly combined with a picture gallery. It also skilfully sets the scene for a velvet chair like Calan from Westwing.

4. Dark green: a natural colour for your wall
Bringing more nature into your own four walls has long been a trend. The wall colour dark green creates a subtle jungle feeling, especially in combination with large indoor plants. If you like it cool and modern, combine it with grey. Brown and beige tones add more warmth.

5. Petrol: the dark eye-catcher
Petrol is a real eye-catcher - the mix of green and blue is therefore usually best combined with calm shades of grey or brown. The Sofia modular sofa from Westwing, which is available in 11 colours (top photo), combines very well with this.
