Interior design styles have been finding their way into private rooms for some years now. The skilful use of wallpaper and colours plays an important role in this.
Ruth Mottershead is Little Greene's creative director. In her role, she is responsible for developing new colour tones and designing the wallpaper collections. She comes from the family of owners of the long-established English family business in Manchester and has been involved with colour since she was a child. Master interior decorator Kai Bergen from MEINEWAND spoke with her.
Swedish wallpaper designer Lisa Bengtsson is known for her expressive patterns. We asked her to select matching colours from the MEINEWAND range that can be combined with her most famous wallpapers.
Swedish designer Lisa Bengtsson loves large-format wallpaper patterns. In an interview with Robin Kreide, she shares tips on how the iconic wallpapers from her brand Studio Lisa Bengtsson can be perfectly integrated into a room.
The fashion and fabric brand Liberty and the associated luxury department stores' in London's West End stand for English design in the best sense: colourful, tradition-conscious and at the same time timelessly modern. In its wallpaper collection The Modern Collector, Liberty also remains true to the high standards of artistic and craftsmanship that have made the brand famous worldwide since the 19th century.
Creative and of the highest quality: this is what the Dutch wallpaper manufacturer Eijffinger stands for, which has been embellishing living rooms and bedrooms in houses and flats with its patterns for well over a hundred years. We spoke to Lucien van Uffelen, export manager responsible for German-speaking countries, among other regions.
In recent decades, white walls have been favoured for hanging pictures and paintings in galleries and museums around the world. But this is changing. Sebastian Stahl spoke about this with Oliver Ahlers, whose gallery in Göttingen is currently presenting works of Classical Modernism in front of a striking wallpaper.
The wallpapers by William Morris continue to inspire to this day. The co-founder of the English Arts and Crafts movement succeeded in the 19th century in what designers rarely achieve: his classics not only suit the classic British interior style, but can also be used for modern wall designs.
Warm colours create an inviting, cosy atmosphere in rooms and are perfect for creating a homely feel. As a wall paint, these shades have both an invigorating and stabilising effect on interior design. As part of a collaboration with Westwing, Sebastian and Kai from MEINEWAND have put together inspiring colours from our English manufacturers for rooms from Europe's largest interior supplier.
